Kurland Park

“Kurland Park” is a 600 Ha farm belonging to a consortium of businessmen. This Estate lies adjacent to the Kurland Polo Estate with easy access between the two properties. Kurland Park has three boarded fields all planted to Bermuda grass and two stick and ball fields. An all weather sand exercise track surrounds one of the stick and ball fields. All pitches are under big gun irrigation fed from the many scenic dams on the farm. Like Kurland this Estate nestles the foothills of the Crags mountain range giving it a scenic back ground and higher than average annual rainfall. All the pitches have adequate sand toppings to prevent injury to ponies.

Two magnificent stable blocks house one hundred and twelve ponies under the care and guidance of polo professional “Buster” MacKenzie. Buster is a six goal player who has represented South Africa on numerous occasions and has been instrumental in developing Kurland Park from undeveloped land into the magnificent polo Estate it is today. A group of approximately 20 “school” ponies are kept for hire to clients usually up to ten goal level. Kurland Park is renown for high quality horses and have a vigorous young pony program for the future. They have won all of the major tournaments in Plett including the inaugural S.A. Open.
