Buster MacKenzie
Buster MacKenzie grew up in KwaZulu Natal and was educated at Michaelhouse where he excelled as a sportsman. His equestrian career began with polo crosse before making the change to polo.
Buster now lives in the beautiful Plettenberg Bay area of the Western Cape and plays most of his polo at Kurland Park.
His preferred position on the field is at number 2 and he displays a talent for good stick work and accurate hard-hitting.
Buster has represented South Africa on numerous occasions many of them as captain. He has a reputation for exceptional horsemanship with an enormous work load capacity. He has an exceptional string of ponies and his knowledge of schooling polo ponies is testimony to this.
Buster has a cunning tactical polo brain making him a difficult player to compete against. These attributes contribute enormously
to his coaching abilities making him one of the premier coaches in South Africa.
Buster has played in many countries around the world including New Zealand, Argentina, USA and throughout Africa.
His greatest achievement has been winning the SA Open and representing South Africa.
Outside of polo he works on his own business and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His son Christopher is already playing alongside his father in some of the local tournaments.
